she takes up a sword and shield rather than a two hander, reflecting her personality better. she fears for him, especially when he makes no real effort to hide his contempt and bitterness about his lot. she tries not to be patronizing in the fact that when it comes down to it, she is the main defense should templars come for carver(and hawke if theyre also a mage). Warrior bethany who just wants to protect her family and her brother.

its a problem for everyone he associates with, everyone he loves. Mage carver whos, of course, bitter about having magic and the inherent trouble in just existing - not so much in his own personal danger, but that it will never just be his problem.
